Seniors Vs Coburg Districts All was set for a fierce end to the season with Districts having the finals on the line. With group morale and confidence up the Falcons kicked out to a five goal to two lead at quarter time. The player’s effort around the contest and willingness to win their own football was tremendous. Jayden Wood and the young Jimmy Pomella cracked in and made their presence felt. Skipper Dennerley and deputy Bunworth applied the screws to a Districts side that were second to the ball. The Falcons went in with a 14-point lead at the major break. The third term was an arm wrestle with the players more accountable at the stoppages and hungrier for the battle. Plugga sent the first major through the big sticks 5 minutes in. Mackey was handy up forward kicking 3 for the day also. The defence lead by Marcus Hollow were terrific The lead 26-points at the final change. The Falcons took the foot off the pedal for the early part of the last quarter that saw the opposition get within 10-points but our resolve was at its strongest today. The Falcons again put pressure on the Lions through the middle and won contested ball. Michael Lubke’s efforts were fantastic as he kicked 7 goals on one leg to seal the league goal kicking medal with 71. A terrific team display that will serve us well leading into our assault at finals football in 2011. Well done to all players, staff, committee, supporters for your efforts this season. Reserves Vs Coburg Districts The reserves never really got out of second gear today with many players down on form. Little ‘Pebbles’ worked hard as did Trev Urlichs and Humphrey. It was a disappointing way to end what has been a terrific step in the right direction for the club. Well done to the boys for their efforts this year and here’s to a big 2011! Goal Kickers: C. U18As Vs Point Cook (ROUND 18 - 14/08/10) The final match of the round had a lot on offer. A win to the 18s and we are in to the finals. A loss and we are out. With the ground the worse that I have ever seen. The wind was 6 goals. But the score didn’t reflect that. Both teams would place a flood. The first half only saw a few goals kicked. With both sides losing players to the send off rule. Point cook were not on the ball by sending there number 6 back on the ground prematurely. We then called a head count which resulted in a 50 meter penalty in our favour and point cook score being wiped from that point. The end result saw the vales into the finals. It’s not the way we would like to get in but we deserve to be there through the ups and downs this season. Get down and support us against Spotswood in our Elimination Final this Sunday at Altona!
